Job Description

As Environmental Entry you will provide technical support to the Environmental Management Department with activities regarding environmental regulatory compliance of the client’s operations. Specific activities required will depend on the assigned area of responsibility from the following list:

  • 1. air pollution control
  • 2. wastewater treatment
  • 3. solid and hazardous waste
  • 4. toxic chemical releases
  • 5. chemical usage
  • 6. storm water
  • 7. Environmental Management System
  • 8. required documentation
  • 9. environmental training
  • 10. environmental communication campaigns
  • 11. environmental compliance reporting
  • 12. environmental auditing

Responsibilities

  • Develops, presents and explains proposals, reports, and findings to management.
  • Monitors new regulations, legislation and permits for above assigned area(s) of responsibility. Analyzes and assesses potential impact to company operations. Develops, implements and audits cost-effective methods for compliance with requirements.
  • Creates process sheets and work instructions detailing specific requirements to ensure a high level of environmental performance in plant operations. Determines necessary actions, communicates such to affected departments, and audits conformance to requirements.
  • Creates environmental training content and conducts training sessions for internal and external environmental education and awareness campaigns.
  • Completes environmental compliance reporting requirements for above assigned area(s) of responsibility. Collects appropriate data, completes accurate calculations, and prepares timely reports for submittal to regulatory agencies.
  • Maintains client’s evironmental website and IT application development related to above assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Obtains environmental data, develops and conducts required calculations, prepares and submits permit applications for above assigned area(s) of responsibility.
  • Understands and models VPS (Value Added Production System) Principles and concepts of Standard Work and Problem Solving.
  • Adheres to 5S and Safety Standards and Principles.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree in a technical discipline such as Engineering, Environmental Science, Chemistry or equivalent of 4 years of related experience in environmental compliance and reporting for a complex industrial manufacturing operation.
  • 6 months of intership/co-op experience.
  • ISO 14001 EMS Lead Auditor.
  • knowledge of environmental management in areas such as air, wastewater, solid & hazardous waste, toxic chemical management and regulations.
  • leadership, project management, communication and teamwork experience.
  • experience with Microsoft packages.
  • experience with customized databases and software.
  • experience with planning, conducting, and leading ISO 14001 EMS audits.
